Time We Discuss: I'm Grateful | Thanksgiving Reflection 2024

Watch/Listen to this Episode I'm Grateful | Thanksgiving Reflection 2024 Thankful; Host of Time We Discuss is pointing to a the play button and in the background is a dining room table with a full Thanksgiving dinner.

This Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the journey of building my YouTube channel and podcast, Time We Discuss, and to thank everyone who has supported me along the way. Time We Discuss is all about career discovery and exploration, where I dive into unique and interesting careers that many people might not have heard of. My goal is to create a resource for those looking for direction in their professional lives, and this holiday seemed like the perfect opportunity to express my gratitude for how far we've come.

To start, happy Thanksgiving to everyone listening! Even if you don't celebrate, I encourage you to take a moment to think about things you're grateful for. My wife recently came across a post on LinkedIn that really resonated with me: it pointed out that the things we might take for granted, like our homes or jobs, could be what someone else deeply wishes for. This reminder of gratitude really resonated, especially in the context of our professional lives, where it's so easy to feel restless or unfulfilled.

As I reflect on Time We Discuss, I'm incredibly grateful to my subscribers, all 127 of you, and to the 105 guests I've had the pleasure to interview. Every single one of you has been a part of this journey. It's been amazing to see the channel grow, and I feel a real sense of accomplishment knowing that people out there find value in these stories of career paths they might not have previously considered. A huge thank you goes out to some of my early guests (Chris of White Rabbit Hypnosis, John the mental health professional and dream therapist, Christina the speech pathologist, Kristin the self-published author of The Inept Mom, and Lauren-Alice the senior manager) who were there from the start and helped me set the tone for what this podcast could become. Thanks to them, I was able to build the foundation for the show.

I also want to express my deepest gratitude to my family, especially my wife and kids, who have been a constant source of support. When I started this, I didn't realize how time-intensive it would be to produce content in the way I envisioned. Their encouragement has made all the difference, allowing me to pursue this project even as it grew more demanding.

I can't overlook the amazing feedback I've received from you, the listeners. Hearing that Time We Discuss has helped people explore careers they hadn't thought of, or provided guidance they wish they'd had earlier in life, really drives me to keep going. Those moments of validation, whether in comments or private messages, mean the world to me.

And to those who have recommended future guests … thank you! Your connections have introduced me to inspiring professionals I might not have found on my own. This network of supporters has allowed me to showcase a wide range of careers and hopefully provide insight into professions that might resonate with someone seeking direction.

Looking ahead, I'm excited for what's to come. Season two of Time We Discuss is launching in January, and I can't wait to share more stories of career discovery with all of you. So as we celebrate Thanksgiving, or simply take a moment to reflect, I encourage everyone to think about the things you have, and be grateful for your own journey … wherever you might be on it. Thank you, and happy Thanksgiving!
