In an episode of Time We Discuss, the host interviews Holly Faust, an occult researcher, minister, and advocate for alternative beliefs and alternative spirituality. The conversation explores her career path, personal experiences, and the work she does to educate and support those interested in the paranormal and spiritual fields.

Holly Faust's journey began with a background in law, but a personal tragedy—losing a close friend to suicide—led her toward exploring the paranormal. This sparked her deep interest in research, particularly into the occult and alternative spiritual practices. Her early exposure to alternative beliefs began in college, where she engaged in non-religious witchcraft and role-playing games like Dungeons & Dragons. As she delved further into her studies, she relied on books and libraries, given the limited internet resources at the time.

Over time, Holly Faust transitioned from law to nursing, but ultimately chose to become a stay-at-home mother to homeschool her children. She pursued a ministerial degree, aligning with her desire to help others. Her work as a minister now involves counseling individuals who may not feel comfortable with traditional psychological services. She offers guidance tailored to different spiritual backgrounds, reinforcing the importance of meeting people where they are in their faith journey.

As an occult researcher, Holly Faust collaborates with paranormal investigative teams, educating them on the significance of understanding spirituality when working with clients. She often intervenes when teams misinterpret symbols or practices, clarifying misconceptions about signs like pentagrams or runes, which are frequently misidentified as demonic. She emphasizes that many symbols have protective or cultural meanings rather than sinister connotations.

Holly Faust also teaches online and in-person courses on topics such as herbalism and spiritual research. Her work extends to writing books, including My Journey out of Darkness, which details her personal experiences in the paranormal field, and The Witch's Book of Things, a beginner's guide to witchcraft aimed at correcting misinformation. She is also working on books about psychic children with special needs, herbalism, and discrimination within the paranormal community.

Her advocacy extends beyond spiritual and paranormal research. She is deeply involved in raising awareness about missing and murdered Indigenous individuals, a cause close to her heart due to her own Indigenous heritage. She encourages people to share information about missing Indigenous persons, as they are often underreported in national databases.

When asked about the financial viability of being an occult researcher, Holly Faust explains that it is not a lucrative profession. Since many in the paranormal field do not charge for investigative services, she supplements her income through books, lectures, and ministerial services like weddings and funerals. Despite this, she remains passionate about helping others and educating the public on alternative spirituality and alternative beliefs.

Holly Faust's work exemplifies a commitment to research, education, and advocacy. Whether through ministerial counseling, paranormal investigations, or her efforts to support marginalized communities, she continues to challenge misconceptions and offer guidance in the realm of alternative spirituality.
